My intentions with this project were to capture the simplest yet complicated form of life of being a girl. There are so many complex things that go into being a girl, so I aimed to encapsulate some of those feelings through this project. I attempt to see through different lenses and specifically hone in on female friendships as a main focus within my images. For me, being a girl can be summed up to the relationships and bonds that are shone through female friendships and the beauty of being a girl, which goes far beyond the surface.
The grid photo in my series is my favorite. I feel as though the action that I photographed was of two young girls, one of which is helping the other tie her swimsuit. The swimsuit itself is a very vulnerable item of clothing, only covering the necessary areas on the female body. The trust can be shown through this series of images assembled in a grid. There is an intimate feeling conveyed, which I saw as capturing the moment of stillness and just being among two girls. They are so connected, even seen on a physical and emotional level. The first two images edited with warmth display the warmth and comfort brought on my small actions like tying a swimsuit, and the comfortability that is there.
