My focus for this project was my father and uncle's legacy and capturing how it plays out in my life. They both played professional basketball, and they always talk about how the sport opened many doors for them like being able to go to HW. These photos are meant to capture their legacies, specifically the tangible ways in which it shows up in my life, and the ways in which my siblings and I try to live up to them.
I really like a lot of my photos, but one of my favorites is the 9th image in my series, the one where I'm holding the medals. Those medals are my regional and state championship medals which I won my freshman year. I like the image because of the way the blue medals and my blue nails stand out against the black background and how tightly my hand is clutching them. This image speaks to the way I try to live up to their legacy (since they also won state championships in high school) and how proud I am when I get even a part of it.
