My intentions with this project were to just interact and document my relationship with my grandmother and how it has changed as we have lived in the same environment and now different ones. I wanted to explore her life, as well as how it relates to mine. Show the history that we share and our similarities, as well as demonstrate how I am her legacy.
THE GRID #6 TOOK ME SO LONG SO MUCH WORK but I really liked the way it turned out. Its a 10x8 grid of her writing my chinese name out, and it's just special becasue theres so many things that I dont know that only she does, that I'll forget as time goes on, including how to write my name (because she told me that there's a specific order in the way that you have to write each of the characters). Portrait of Portrait #8 This picture is one of my favorites because it's a picture that I have on my shelf in my room, of her and I when I was a baby. My parents told me she was really standoffish before I was born, and when she started to take care of me she became a whole new person. The necklace which you've probably seen me wear before is something that she gave me that symbolizes long life. It's just special and like I'll carry her with me forever.
