My intentions for this project were to explore the idea and the feeling of platonic love. Like others, I feel a deep love for my friends that can be unexplainable and complicated. At times, friendship can feel hard and hurtful, but other times you see your best friend as your person, viewing them in a different light. I tried to show that through the filters to show the pedestal I put my closet friends on and the way that I see them. Friendship and having your companion is really important to me. I connect friendship to nature, as well, feeling the calmness and serentity friendship makes me feel. My favorite picture that I took from my series would probably be the still life of the 2 candles. The reason for this is that when putting the two flames together, they combine to become one. That's how I feel about my friendship. I look to friends I see myself in, and who share the same humour, so the idea of two flames into one really connects to my friendships and the love I feel for my friends. The smoke at the top also strikes me to feel how, once together, the smoke forms, which is the love and laughter. I feel like I didn't quite execute the pictures in the way that I envisioned, but am super proud of a few of the pictures and would love to try again because the feeling of platonic love could be photographed beautifully.
