The goal of this project was to capture the tranquillity and peace that I find when fishing and outdoors. In my life, I often can become overwhelmed by the pressures of school and baseball, and for me, fishing/the outdoors is a nice reset. I hoped to capture the simplicity and calm of being outside and the fun that I find in Fishing. Some of my images (the pictures of the knives) were meant to capture some of the boldness and roots of having to gut a fish if you choose to eat it. My inverted picture shows Nate trying to untangle his line. I inverted this picture because the struggle and annoyance of untangling a line break the normal peace I find.
My favorite image was the grid of casting a line. I liked this picture the most because it showed the simplicity of fishing. There aren't a ton of moving parts, and yet you are able to cast a line 20+ yards if you do it right. I also think that the lighting of this image does a good job isolating Nate, who is casting, and remains in the center of the frame, but doesn't "pop" in terms of color. This was intentional, as I wanted to capture how connected you can feel when you are in nature away from the noise of the modern world.
